Pōʻai Ke Aloha ʻĀina

A project of the Dana Naone Hall Chair to elevate aloha ʻāina practices within our community and promote collaborative relationships with sustainability leaders from around the world.



Pōʻai Ke Aloha ʻĀina has three areas of focus for Hawaiʻi and the world:

Food Systems and Waste

Circular Economy Intervnetions

Water Resource Management

Established in 2019 an endowment of over 3.2 million dollars to fund a faculty chair committed to strengthen faculty partnerships with community entities working in critical areas such as Hawaiian culture and language loss, climate change and protection of natural environments.  The current chair is Dr. Kamanamaikalani Beamer who was chosen by the committee that had drawn up the scope and mission of the chair.  Professor Beamer will serve for five years and will be entering his third year in August.
